So, with my newish how comes new traditions. This is my second Independence Day in this house, and the tradition is to watch the fireworks in the parking lot, since we are a stone's throw from Bradley Park, where they shoot off the fireworks in San Marcos every year. Over the loud booming of the explosions, the only thing you could hear was the even louder screams of the car alarms in the neighborhood. The bigger the boom, the more car alarms would sound. By the end, I could not stop laughing, couldn't hear anything, and I had recaptured the childlike wonder of fireworks.
